well what a weekend! I had just the best time and sooo much fun! The Scrappin Patch retreat was once again held at the beautiful conference centre at Glentui- by the Ashley Gorge- just north of Oxford in North Canterbury. The setting was green and luscious and we had bellbirds singing in the trees outside and beautiful sunny warm weather - it was a shame to be sitting inside scrapping on such a fine day- so i enjoyed teh outdoors at morning tea and lunchtimes! The food was amazing as usual - i felt so full after all the morning and afternoon teas that i had to skip a few and a few desserts as i was so FULL!! It was so nice to just be able to enjoy nice food and not to have to organise and cook meals for a change- i could just eat and enjoy!
We were so lucky to have the gorgeous and talented and super friendly and nice Trina McClune ( Prima, Spellbinders and Get Picky design teams etc) come along and teach 3 classes as part of the retreat. I did the amazing layout class on Friday night with a lovely bunch of ladies and then Trina ran 2 Smash Album classes as well -

This was the amazing class that Trina taught on Friday night using the beautiful My Minds eye papers and some Prima goodies - naturally

I really love the social side of retreats too - getting to catch up with old friends and meet new ones- all the ladies at my group of tables were wonderful and friendly and it was a pleasure to sit and chat and share ideas and advice and tools and products between us all. Its always nice to inspire others and be inspired in turn- that for me is part of what the retreat is all about! So thank you to Mrs P, Lyn, Rochelle, Megan, Sally and Luana for making the retreat a friendly and fun place to be too!
Anyhoo- as often and what you hope will happen the mojo flowed and i got about 12 layouts done over the weekend and did 2 awesome classes! I have shown you Trina's layout class but i also did an exploding box class with the uber talented and vertically challenged Megan! Boy did she pull one out of the box for thus class - it was totally gorgeous- mindblowingly so!! When she showed me the class the night before - i was so stunned all i could mutter was WOW- you want me to make that !!!!!
I haven't quite finished the inside yet - just have to add a couple of photos and it will all be done- i will try and get the box finished and photographed so i can show that tomorrow! It is absolutely beautiful- so thank you soi much Megan for designing and teaching such an inspiring class! Can't wait to see what she will teach us next!
Anyhoo - i managed to get quite a few layoyts done and i am really happy with all of them - which rarely happens either! I have had quite a love affair lately with cardboard and hessian- and lots more tags and tickets and things so they featured strongly on my layouts this weekend!! Here is the first layout that i did for the weekend - i think that it is one of my alltime favourites! I love the idea of doubling up the photos like Georgia Heald does so copied that idea.
Anyhoo must dash - visitors awaiting a cup of tea and a catch up - back soon with more to share!
